Three Major Theories About Why We Dream:

• To reorganize the brain
• To work out unsolved problems
• To make sense of random stimulation to the brain

Haah so let's see. Which one makes the most sense to me and why? The last one. To make sense of random stimulation to the brain. However, I don't completely agree with JUST this. It says that we can flush out the garbage we don't need..This is not true. Nothing we observe and take in is garbage. Although we violence is not a pleasant thing, it's important. If we went back to primitive times, you'd need to know how to be violent to stay alive. So the second one I agree with is To reorganize the brain. This is because dreams organize the past day/days. But they also organize the NEXT day. I cannot even explain how many days I've dreamt about before they occurred. Usually something horrible went wrong, but you get the idea. It showed my insecurities and what I needed to be sure of for the next day.

Continuing on, Why do we dream about what we dream about? Well, usually it can be about what we fear, worry about or feel. Sometimes arguments inside ourselves cause problems in dreams. Most of my dreams have a plot line, so there's a conflict/resolution (if I'm asleep long enough to wait for it). About 30% of our dreams are about unknown people/places/ideas. But, we have to at least KNOW about them to dream about them right? Not according to my religion. Now I know it doesn't make sense right now quite as much as it will later on, but psychology is very closely related to religion. Here's some things I learned entirely off wikipedia.

Theosophy-Doctrine of religious philosophy and metaphysics originating with Helena Blavatsky. Basically, it states that all religions have a portion of truth.

To me, this basically means no matter who you are, whatever you believe has a BIT of truth in it. If you wanna believe in some God and his.. faithfulness, there is a God out there some bit like that. Or another figure like a God. Or even just faithfulness. It's hard to understand with my lack of knowledge, but basically... you just gotta understand and accept everyone and their religion or lack of. I don't know exactly what it says about atheists. (I'll look it up for you Leif ha ha)
