Book 1

"how i live now" -Meg Rosoff

This is the story of a 15 year old girl named Elizabeth, who goes by Daisy. She's sent off from Manhattan to live in the fresh country air of England with her cousins. Why? She's anorexic. No one really notices in England though. She instantly falls in love with the second eldest, Edmond. Edmond was the only one to ask her about it, and make a point to just speak to her. War falls upon the country side and they are left alone on the estate, no aunt in sight. For a few weeks, it's all fun and games. Soon though, war breaks out and they are separated. The group is split in half and sent to different places across England. After escaping, Daisy treks around with her youngest cousin, Piper, whom she loves as a little sister. Eventually Daisy and Piper find their way back to their estate. Daisy gets sent back to the states a few weeks afterward. Later to find out, 2 days after that Edmond returns to the house. He is broken, he's seen to much in the war. A few years later, Daisy returns to stay with her cousins. Edmond barely speaks anymore. It takes a while for him to except Daisy back into his life. Once he does, he grows stronger each day.

I loved this story so much, despite the fact I felt like crying at the end. Before they made it a point Edmond was still alive, barely, I was under the impression he'd died. What he and Daisy shared was so special, and so important to the story. At a few points, Daisy had nothing left to live for. She wouldn't of minded dying. She stayed strong for Edmond and Piper. It was an amazing story. That's... about all I can say. It doesn't need any more words.

GREAT READ! You should pick up a copy at the library =]
